Triumph Meriden FC win the Jeffs Hall Cup!

The Jeffs Hall Cup was won today 28 April 2012 at Sedgemere Sports & Social Club.

Well done lads!  It's a proud day for Meriden.

Next week Triumph Meriden play their last league match of the season at Chelmsley Town against Selly Oak to secure the league title.  Kick off 2:30pm - come along and give them your support.

Parish Council Newsletter

Our Spring 2012 newsletter has now been delivered to homes throughout the Parish.  Spare copies have been left in the library and Blitz. 

It contains highlights of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee events and Half Term Sports Camp starting this Wednesday 11 April 2012.  There is one error, though, if you want to contact our sports co-ordinator by email, his correct email address is pauljayes@yahoo.co.uk.

Vacancy for the Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer


Meriden Parish Council is looking to recruit a Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer who can bring drive, flexibility, commitment and appropriate experience to this important position.



This is an excellent opportunity to be involved in local issues with the flexibility to be able to work from home.  As the principle officer, duties include: to produce agendas and minutes for all council meetings and committees, liaising with outside bodies, actioning the council’s decisions, acting as the council’s financial officer, keeping the council’s financial records.  Requirements: some evening work and ability to work from home and core hours at a local designated office in Meriden.  


The successful applicant would be expected to have knowledge of local government and to hold, or to be working towards obtaining the Certificate in Local Council Administration (CiLCA) or equivalent.



25 hours weekly

Salary NJC scales:  LC1 spinal column point 18-22 (pro-rata to 25 hours) depending on experience.

Next police beat surgery at Meriden's Sport Pavilion

Forthcoming dates are scheduled for:
  • Thursday 8 March between 4pm and 5pm
  • Thursday 12 April between 4pm and 5pm
  • Saturday 26 May between 12pm and 1pm

New - Walking and running clubs at Meriden Sports Park

The Parish Council’s sports co-ordinator, Paul Jayes, has started walking and running clubs at the sports park

·        The walking club meets every Tuesday between 7am to 8am. 
·        The running club meets every Thursday between 7am and 8am.

The venue is Meriden Sports Park where Paul uses the footpath around the perimeter (c. 400m) as the circuit – 10 laps for walkers, 15 laps for runners, gradually increasing the laps as your strength progresses.  As the clubs develop, Paul will source other circuits to walk and run.

Police Surgery at the Sports Pavilion, Main Road, Meriden
Sgt Tony Hanlon and his officers would like to trial new style police surgeries at the Sports Pavilion in order to better engage with residents.


The first of these surgeries will take place on:


• Saturday 26 November 2011 between noon – 1:00pm


Forthcoming dates are scheduled for:


• Thursday 8 December 2011 between 4:00 – 5:00pm

• Thursday 12 January 2012 between 4:00 – 5:00pm

• Saturday 11 February 2012 between noon – 1:00pm

Meriden Sports Camp returns for Half Term
