Pedal4Heroes cycling to Meriden on Thursday 30 May 2013

Pedal4Heroes are cyclying from Whittington Barracks to London from Thursday 30 May to Sunday 2 June 2013 raising money for Help for Heroes.

The first leg of their journey will see them stop in Meriden on Thursday 30 May around 10am where they will stop for a comfort and tea break at the Sports Pavilion and then visit the National Cyclist Memorial on the Green to commemorate.

Come along and support Pedal4Heroes.

Meriden Coronation Cup 2013 - Five-a-side Football Tournament

Saturday 1 June 2012, boys and girls can take part in the Meriden Coronation Cup, aged 6-11 and 12-16 years old.  Register at 12:30, kick-off 1pm.

Sunday 2 June 2012, twelve adult teams take part in the Meriden Coronation Cup including last year's winners Punchbowl Saints.  Kick-off 1pm.

Coach Collen Mhlanga is now conducting adult cardio tennis sessions every Tuesday evening from 7pm for 45 minutes.  Cost £4.

Half term sports camp from 28 May 2013

Paul Jayes next sports camp runs from Tuesday 28 May 2013 till Friday 31 May 2013 at the Sports Pavilion 9am to 3pm everyday.
£10 per day.
Please ensure that your child brings a pack lunch with them as well suitable clothing (bottoms and jackets) in case of wet weather and sunscreen in case of hot weather.

Community surgery at the Library

Monday's surgery on 4 February 2013 at the library will be hosted by our neighbourhood co-ordinator, Bruce Brant between 10am and 12noon.

Birmingham Airport Consultation

The next consulation meeting will be on Wednesday 6 February 2013 at the Village Hall between 7pm and 9pm.  The proposed runway extension will affect Meriden and in particular Millison's Wood.  Come along to find out more.

Sunday tennis lessons

Coach Collen Mhlanga continues his indoor tennis lessons at the Village Hall every Sunday morning between 10am and 11am.  Indoor tennis will be available until Sunday 17 February 2013.

Half term sports camp

Sports co-ordinator Paul Jayes is currently planning the half term sports camp for this February.  More details will follow.

Parish Council meeting

The next parish council meeting will be on Monday 25 February 2013 at the Village Hall from 7:30pm.  Representatives from the new Meriden Quarry Liaison Group will be in attendance for the first half hour.

What's coming up in 2013

Happy New Year everyone!  We've been a bit slow in keeping the blog up-to-date and apologise for this.  Hope the weather is not causing too much disruption.

Flooding

If you have experienced problems with flooding in Meriden, come to our next Parish Council meeting on Monday 28 January 2013 at the Village Hall from 7:30pm.  Representatives from Solihull Council and Severn Trent Water will present their findings and what they will do to solve the problem.

Tennis Training

Indoor tennis training with coach, Collen Mhlanga, will take place every Sunday between 10am and 11am at the Village Hall.  For more details, contact Collen on 07717057547 or email him at mhlangac@gmail.com.  Sessions run until 17 February 2013 and cost £3 each.

Collen will review the weather in February to determine the next sessions' location.
